Building success together: Codemate’s 2024 highlights

As 2024 comes to a close, we’ve been taking a moment to reflect on what an incredible year it’s been. The world’s been a bit unpredictable, but Codemate has kept moving forward, focusing on what we love most: helping our customers succeed, growing as a team, and having some fun along the way.

It’s been a year packed with big wins, exciting projects, and plenty of moments to celebrate. So, let’s rewind and take a look at some of the highlights that made 2024 one for the books.

Growing, the Codemate way

Growth has been a big part of our journey in recent years, with last year alone seeing a 30% leap. This year, we hit an exciting new milestone by welcoming Upsert into the Codemate family.

This acquisition didn’t just bring incredible talent to our team – it also gave us a new home in Jyväskylä. The Codemate brand now spans even further across Finland, strengthening our ability to support clients locally and grow together. We are excited to see what this new chapter means for our customers and our culture.

Designing solutions that make a difference

Design has always been close to our heart, and great design starts with understanding people – their needs, challenges, and dreams. User research is an essential part of every successful project. It provides the foundation and direction needed to create impactful solutions, and we’re thrilled to see more of our clients recognising its value. By embracing user research, we’re able to create designs that not only meet but exceed the needs and expectations of end users, ensuring every project makes a meaningful difference.

Whether we’re creating seamless user experiences for parents with the Nucu app or helping farmers tackle sustainability challenges with Envitecpolis, our design process begins with a focus on the essentials: Who are we designing for, what do they truly need, and how can we solve their challenges?

Here are a few projects we’re proud of this year:

Taco Bell Finland: Boosting customer loyalty with a fun and functional mobile app.

Media Group Keskisuomalainen: Supporting digital transformation in Finland’s largest media group.

COR Group: Sustainable growth through transformative application development.

We’re also grateful for our ongoing collaborations with partners like Moi, Schaeffler, and Restel, who continue to trust us with their bold ideas. This year, we’ve also deepened our collaboration with Google, and for example, we work on platform support for Google Maps.

We’ve also made strides in accessibility this year by focusing on training our team. By deepening our knowledge in this crucial area, we’re now better equipped to serve a wider range of customers and end users, ensuring that great design truly includes everyone.

A leap into AI and Data

This year, we also entered exciting new territory by partnering with Outerbounds. Together, we’re building cutting-edge AI and machine learning solutions that help businesses unlock their potential. It’s a bold step into the future, and we’re just getting started.

In April we were also thrilled to be part of BLOOM, an AI-focused event organised by Reaktor and the Fusion Ecosystem. The event offered a fantastic overview of generative AI, machine learning, and AI-related opportunities, with inspiring talks from top keynote speakers. At BLOOM, our CEO Toni Piirainen, alongside Hugo Bowne-Anderson from Outerbounds, emphasised that it’s not too late to begin the journey toward AI and machine learning. We are here to help organisations take those first steps and embrace the opportunities AI brings.

Building connections: Fusion Ecosystem collaboration in action

Speaking of events, in spring 2024, we hosted a Fusion Ecosystem get-together at our office. The event united professionals from various companies to exchange ideas, spark collaborations, and solidify our role within the Fusion community. During the event, we shared our experiences from working with Reaktor on a joint customer case for Media Group Keskisuomalainen, where we successfully launched 19 apps in just three months. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect, celebrate teamwork, and highlight the power of collaboration within the Ecosystem!

At Codemate, we’re not just about tech – we’re about people. This year, we introduced you to some of the brilliant minds behind our projects. From delivery leads to UX designers, each of our mates has a story worth sharing:

Rebels on the move

Our Rebel App Studio team didn’t just focus on building amazing apps this year—they took their expertise global, representing Codemate at Fluttercon Europe in July and Fluttercon USA in September.

As part of the vibrant Flutter community, the Rebels are shaping the future of cross-platform development and making sure Codemate stays ahead of the curve.

Looking to the future

2024 has been a year to remember for Codemate. From significant growth milestones like the Upsert acquisition to projects that make a real difference, and closing the year with a record-breaking monthly billing result, we’ve continued to build success together—with our clients, our partners, and our incredible team.

But as exciting as this year has been, we’re even more thrilled about what’s ahead. In 2025, Codemate turns 18 – a big milestone that’s sure to come with a celebration as unforgettable as our Sweet 16 in Italy.
